Automatic irrigation is the use of a device to operate irrigation structures so the change of flow of water from one bay, or set of bays, to another can occur in the absence of the irrigator.
Automation can be used in a number of ways:
- to start and stop irrigation through supply channel outlets,
- to start and stop pumps,
- to cut off the flow of water from one irrigation area – either a bay or a section of channel and directing the water to another area.
These changes occur automatically without any direct manual effort, but the irrigator may need to spend time preparing the system at the start of the irrigation and maintaining the components so it works properly.
Australia is a representative democracy, which means we elect representatives to make decisions on our behalf. In Australia, voters elect representatives at regular intervals to each of the three levels of government; Federal Government, State Government and local councils. Each level has different responsibilities.
It is the right and responsibility of everyone on the electoral roll to vote. This ensures that everyone's preference is accounted for and that our elected representatives genuinely are those preferred by the majority of the electorate.
The councillors you elect make decisions on a range of local issues. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- maternal and child health care centres;
- child care;
- meals on wheels and home help;
- sporting facilities and recreation reserves;
- libraries and community centres;
- animal registrations;
- town planning and building regulations; and
- local roads and footpaths.
A range of services are provided by us to support frail older people and people with disabilities, and their carers, to live independently in the community.
Services are provided when frailty, disability or illness prevent a person from undertaking the tasks of daily living for themselves. The range of services available includes home care, personal care, respite care, delivered meals, property maintenance, social support, community transport and senior citizens centres.
